  IT'S BOYCOTT TIME AGAIN.

Sa Mauulit!!   The traditional Filipino bayanihan spirit truly doth surpass all understanding. After the Valentine's Day "Massacre" on Feb 14, wherein bored PLDT operators yawned and fell asleep waiting for the phone to ring, The Philippine League for Democratic Telecommunications, Inc. is calling on telephone users to engage in another coordinated protest action, , aptly dubbed the "Ides of March" on March 15 against PLDT's scheme to impose telephone metering.
We ask you to join us in NOT using PLDT long distance services, whether local or international on that day.

France Telecom Bends To Internet Protesters

By Madeleine Acey, TechWeb

Internet boycotters protesting high
telecommunications charges
in Europe appear to have forced the hand of at least one national provider, following an eight-country strike Sunday.  France Telecom confirmed Wednesday that it would introduce a flat-rate fee for local calls to Internet-access numbers. France Telecom CEO Michel Bon said the move would have to be approved by industry regulators. The Association of Unhappy Internauts had proposed a flat-rate monthly fee of $36 for unlimited local calls. The group said Internet discussion-group numbers were down by between 8 percent and 62 percent in France during the strike.

Feb 9 Senate Hearing.

NOW THAT ....

-easy internet access makes it easy for students to do research.

-internet access lets families of Filipino workers overseas send message everyday at a very economical cost.

-the country has a chance to bridge the islands through better communication.

-business has a chance to lower operating expenses, and have quicker response times.

-government agencies can rid themselves of much unneeded red tape

-people can work at home and help decongest traffic.

-we save the forests by using less trees that are made into paper.

now that all these and more can be possible, PLDT comes in and  pulls the plug by making the above prohibitively expensive.   gee, thanks.

(as per PDI Feb 15) That is what they will realize as added income from metering. Siguro lampas pa dito and kikitain.

Maghanda na kayo- baka any day now mag-announce na si Prez erap tungkol na approved na ang pro-metering Provisional Authority na binigay ni Simeon Kintanar sa PLDT. After all, lahat tayo ay pantay pantay sa demokrasyang ito.

Tama ba ito? Bumoto sa:
