A FRUSTRATED READER--ONE OF MILLIONS: Dear Kuya Gerry, My phones went out of order following one of the many brownouts we are generously supplied with by Meralco, so 12 hours AFTER the power came back, I have the enviable task of calling PLDT to report that the phones still don't work. Now maybe I'm the only foreigner that doesn't know how to contact PLDT, because OF COURSE, EVERYONE knows how to contact them - don't they?? So I, being of sound mind pick up the telephone directory (yes the new one) that has just been delivered to my office. OK, so where would you expect to see the phone numbers to contact PLDT? - Inside the front cover? - NO, that lists Emergency Police, Fire, National Poison Control, CAPCOM (what is that?), Anti-carnapping, Civil Defense Operation, Meralco, Manila Water, etc. - But no PLDT OK, maybe a page or two into the directory.....Map of the Philippines, Highlights of Philippine History, How to use the Yellow and White Pages - NOT HERE Ah! National Government Pages - maybe - Nah they're not government owned (apparently). Alright here we go - we're at page 47 METRO MANILA BUSINESS PAGES silly me, I should have known to look all the way inside, and there in tiny print on page 455 are a few listings - but that's not what I'm looking for.. I want a number like 141, or 119, or 171 or something like that - you know a CUSTOMER SERVICE type of number - They have a customer service - don't they??? Hey never mind - I have the Internet, and being that I follow a bit of the local news, I know it's not you, it's .com.ph so lets go there. Here we are... now ABOUT US | NEWS | PRODUCTS | MARKETING PROMOS | INVESTOR RELATIONS | CUSTOMER SERVICE | ...maybe - nope! | CONTACT US | That's gotta be it (click) - No - I don't want to email them, I WANT A PHONE NUMBER!!!!! Right - back to the directories - I have 3 Government and Business (been there) let's check the inside of Commercial Industrial, hmmm...same stuff or how about Household and business? - nah - I'm missing something aren't I? Isn't it logical to put the number of the phone company in the book? or on the Web? - but wait PLDT are not logical I know this I've visited Your site so many times, a phone company that cannot connect to the Internet in a courtroom wouldn't put anything in a logical place... Ok - I have to be
clever here - let's not look for "PLDT", lets look for "Philippine
Long Distance Telephone Corp.".........Phew! lots of listings beginning
with "Philippine" but it's gonna be here isn't it......YES!!!!
on page 481, right hand column here it is... So, perhaps you could be kind enough to place these Oh so helpful numbers on your site? After all-- you provide a service? (Sorry pal, I'm in enough trouble with those lumbering bozos. As it is they are accusing me of impersonating a telephone company--them. Now, if they were a real telephone company, that would be a totally different matter.--ed.)0
