This
is the same outfit Mark Jimenez donated 100 million buckaroos to some
years ago. This is also the same police force within a police force that
has been hounded for years for various outright massacres of handcuffed
victims and reportedly responsible for various cases of "Desparecidos".
The head of the dreaded super police unit was headed by Estrada ally and
was also a member of the former Marcos government's equivalent of the
Nazi SS,the MISG (Military Intelligence and Security Unit). The PAOCTF
had been used by many a crony to perform certain functions which may been
outside their jurisdiction, an example: PLDT president manny pangilinan
utilized the elite anti-terrorist unit to raid a small office which was
reselling long distance services at a price lower than PLDT's, the giant
phone company. The kids (ages 19-23) running the office where thrown into
the Camp Crame jail and their offices ransacked. This act of throwing
into jail four or five youths was an exercise to show PLDT competition
and would-be resellers that they had a lot of clout and would not hesitate
to use their connections to the then President and his private army to
promote their type of law enforcement. PLDT's president and chairman had
also been asked to explain to the Senate Impeachment Judges why his company,
together with the PAOCTF, had been caught tapping the phone lines and
conducting surveillance activities on the Senators throughout the Impeachment
hearings. Because the PLDT is now also the owner of numerous other media
outlets, such as TV networks, radio stations and a partnership with the
country's largest newspaper, it is doubtful if any news about pangilinan
or his companies anti-consumer and anti-Filipino actions will ever be
known to the public. Part of this ability to censor the news also comes
from the One Billion a year budget PLDT has for Public Relations and Advertising.
While we would love to pretend that the Philippines has a free press,
truthfully we should say that "this is the freest press money can
buy". Go ahead ask Tony Samson, pangilinan best buddy and most everybody
in media's "bespren".
