A letter to the Editor of PLDT.COM

Subject:  Commitment to Interconnection   4.27.00
Good day!

I'm a "silent" visitor to your website and I'm always delighted to hear news and comments on every issue that pisses you off.

I would like to bring to your attention PLDT's (the telco) repeated commitment to interconnection (as always aired by Manny P).

I'm from the town of Paete, Laguna. About two years ago, PLDT started to roll out in our place but did not install lines...then a few months later, Digitel, came in. After Digitel was able to nearly finish installation, PLDT launched a blitz installing lines as if they actually bluffed Digitel.

The worst thing is, after two years, the two aren't completely inter-connected (hear this Manny P.). Using a Digitel phone to call PLDT is no problem BUT from PLDT phone calling Digitel subscriber (how about your next door neighbor) IS STILL AN NDD CALL!! IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS! WHERE IS THE VAUNTED COMMITMENT??? THE ONLY GOOD THING BEING A DIGITEL SUBSCRIBER THERE IS FEWER PRANK CALLS!!

I'm a telecoms engineer and I knew the problem of BayanTel on busy trunks...then their neck-grip on denial of Eastern Telecoms...then Globe's resulting in text inter-connection...then who's next? PLAY FAIR AND SQUARE, MANNY P.!!!

Then they started to tickle the public w/ the word convergence as if they're really into it!

Hope this letter of mine gets heard by someone from PLDT.

thanks,

(identity withheld to avoid harassment from PLDT)
