PLDT.COM NEWSFLASH !!!!
The PLDT.COM editor in chief voices his concern over the latest announcement of Malacanang on the hostage-taking in the Malaysian Island resort of Sipadan. " The news report issued by Foreign Affairs Secretary Domingo 'Stormeng Domeng' Siazon that we are negotiating to give them six year old Elian is flawed", Palace sources were quoted as saying.  "The President seems  more interested in discussing hostage issues with Marisleysis, Elian's babe cousin, over some Cubalibres".  PLDT.COM is not trying to reach Siazon for comment.

PLDT.COM questions the Departments of Tourism and Foreign Affairs for wrong choices in planning projects for the tourism industry.  "We applaud their efforts, but maybe that Abu Sayyaf gig was a little over the edge"  PLDT.COM notes.  "Also, there may be truth to the rumor that the rebels are using Smart cellphones. That is why
the ransom bid is so high- the terrorist's communication costs are exorbitant.  And the main reason the negotiations take so long is that both sides of the negotiation have to wait for weeks to get a dial tone from PLDT".   (Technical data provided by Jacques, our PLDT resident mole.)

DON'T BE A "PRAISE PIRATE!!"

Before you download that inspiring "praise txtune" from Smart Gold GSM at "P8.00 for a wide selection", and pay 'P2.00 per inquiry',  give them a call and ask them if the proper royalties have been paid to the artists/composers themselves.  As you may already know, the international standard is that every time a song by a particular artist/composer is played with commercial intent, the artist/composer must get a percentage, or a royalty.
Don't just settle for them saying "Of course we paid royalties to Don Moen & Co.!" Ask for written documentation. After all, everyone knows that one person's Smart Gold could be another's fool's gold.

In the news, India announced the dropping of taxes for cell phone imports to 5% from 60% in a government bid to bring Indian IT to world class standards.  Hundreds of thousands of Indian students are now taking current computer courses as India's government sees the new technology as empowering India to become a global power in the IT field.   In the Philippines, using the need to funds a "national computerization" project as a sorry excuse,  government has put forth a new cell phone users tax that will add 10% to the consumers cost of using cell phones.  Alcohol, tobacco and gambling cannot be taxed more as they are businesses run by friends of the President or, in the case of the casinos,  run by the government.  This  short-range type of economic planning is indeed helping in bringing the country at par with the dazzling economic dynamo that Burma (aka Myanmar) now is, thanks to it's junta.

In typical fashion, Manila residents ignore local problems and hum the timeworn national mantra "manana", "manana", "mamaya na"," mamaya na" in the hope that:
1. mighty mouse will save the  day
2. God will not forsake them
3. their immigrant visas will be approved in two weeks
4. it can't happen to them but will happen to their neighbor
5. US INS officers will barge into Malacanang, mistake Erap for Elian and send him to cigar-man Fidel.

Unsolicited yet practical suggestions for the government in its 'reborn-yet-again' campaign to reduce Philippine land, air and maritime disasters
-Erap to ask crony owned airlines to include their "connected" lawyers and accountants in every flight.
-Erap and drinking buddies to donate empty bottles of scotch and "red wine" (yeah, right) to loop around sea going vessels and prevent their sinking.
-Meta-amphetamines to be sold to bus drivers only when they go off-duty.
