Cambodia Killing Fields Scenario?
Pol Pot killed all the intellectuals. This government, being more humane, simply forces our intellectuals to ship out and away to the rest of the world as there is simply no future here.  And at the rate IT companies (except PLDT) are being subject to repeated raids by  headhunters for better paying jobs overseas, and judging by the long lines at the DFA passport office, by July next year we will have a collective IQ almost equivalent to that of a certain third world country leader.

Stormeng Domeng's Headquarters visited by Senator. The Senator found that it took hours for people to get a single clearance, that they were made to stand under the heat for hours due to undermanned booths, and also revealed that the only source of food in the premises, a hot dog stand, is allegedly owned by a classmate of the Stormeng Domeng. So there is no truth to the rumor that only a President can have cronies.

Of course, if you are influential, your DFA Liaison guy from Siazon's staff or somewhere up there, gets to jump the line and get some VIP a passport in about two hours, where ordinary mortals get theirs in about two weeks. Interestingly enough, the crowd would only gape at these line crossers. Either we are too shy a people, or maybe it was the sight of bodyguards of the VIP and their large caliber pistols that caused no one to complain. So, Mr. United Nations people- that is public service, Siazon style. We think it sucks big time. Has Siazon or any of his close friends or relatives ever fallen in line? Obviously not, as it took a member of Senate to expose the DFA's pathetic performance. Who can blame Filipinos from wanting to leave? Or even come home only to be robbed at Customs? But that is another story.  One can also wonder at the fate of overseas countrymen at the hands of Siazon's foreign based people. The thought of having to seek help in a Siazon Embassy abroad makes one wonder if even God can be so cruel.

The massive flight of computer-skilled Filipinos has government officials overwhelmed with joy. "The less smart-asses around, the better it is for us".  Ignorance is bliss, as many public officials are learning. So we sit and watch a nation slowly die.
Maybe we should see Erap not as the worst president in Philippine history next to Marcos. Rather as a man who knows how to value personal friendships. Then you will begin to understand him. You see, in his case, they come first. Friends, family, other interests. Then the mother country. Besides, if people cared, they would have complained long ago but they aren't, so these guys thinks it's just all so cool.

Erap Appointee orders arrest of American
for calling "Erap and this government corrupt".  Let's see this tough government man do the same to the Sumilao farmers or PAL employees.  Or even to an ordinary Filipino who isn't living off taxpayers money.

METERING-  Coming sooner than you think.
Cronies get what they want when they want it. Period.  So when PLDT asked the government for an authority to meter, it was granted one almost overnight by then Commissioner Kintanar.  However, implementation was delayed due to various reasons, one of them being "vigorous public objections" to the pay per minute plan.  That was yesterday.  Today there was another American "expert"  in the limelight named Peter Wallace, who can apparently dictate economic strategy to the entire Erap cabinet.  Or so it seems when he has Erap's men all nodding in agreement to the imposition of metering or "the entire telephone industry will collapse."
The government, it seems, cannot impose PLDT's wishes without losing what little political clout it has over the people, so it seeks an outsider to deliver the bad news to the Filipino people.  And since the guy is a white man, we are all supposed to stand back in awe and nod our heads in agreement. Pweh.  Take your advice and shove it up some other stupid third world country's ass, Mr. Wallace.  We have to live here, you don't.
